๐ง The Best Investment Right Now

Friends,
Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen Silvergate Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, Signature Bank, and Credit Suisse all collapse.
Times like this make us crave safety, protection, and certainty. We start wondering: should I leave my money in the bank? Put it into gold? Bury it in the backyard?
Before making any rash decisions, we think it helps to rewind the clock.
In the 1930s, when a farmer went bankrupt, the family’s home, land, and tools went up for sale. Banks expected to make fortune auctioning it off.
That’s when “Penny Auctions” arose. A farmer’s family, friends, and neighbors showed up at the auctions. If anyone bid more than a few pennies for items, they were intimidated into leaving. At the end of the day, everything was auctioned for dirt cheap and returned to the family.
Widen your lens and this behavior makes perfect sense. We’ve lived 99% of our existence as hunter-gatherers. What do hunter-gatherers do if they have extra resources?
They invest them back in their tribe. The extra food isn’t wasted — it’s shared. It might seem like altruism, but it’s also an incredibly effective insurance policy.
The best investments have always been in our relationships. That was true 1,000 years ago, 100 years ago, and today.
If the headlines have you losing sleep, remind yourself of this: when people come together, our ability to adapt to meet any situation can be astounding.
Wishing you investing success,
– Brian Feroldi, Brian Stoffel, & Brian Withers
